Hollywood Ending

I didn't even know this movie existed until netflix recommended it to me. I read the description, read the name Woody Allen and I added it to my queue. The plot of the movie, I thought was quite interesting. Woody Allen plays a director who is living in the memories of his glory days. When he gets a chance to make a comeback as a director he goes psychosomatically blind! That’s the foundation the movie builds on.
Woody Allen's Character in the movie is his usual neurotic, nervous, awkward character. Although the fact that he becomes psychosomatically blind does add to his awkwardness. Also there is some slapstick humor that is drawn from the blindness. You can imagine that him not being able to see can open up quite of few slapstick opportunities. One thing that really kept me into the movie is the dialogue whenever Allen's character is present. There is a constant stream of one-liners in his dialogue, which are not all hilarious but are certainly smirk worthy. Don't get me wrong there are laugh out loud parts in the movie, but that isn't what the movie is built around. The humor is typical of his other comedic movies. One aspect of the movie I liked was the reporter’s voice-overs through the filming portion of the movie. The consisted of her reading excerpts from her notes. It worked smoothly as a transition between different groups of scenes
Overall the movie was very entertaining and I stayed interested throughout. The plot doesn't really drive the movie it’s more of just a backdrop to Allen's one-liners. I think the movie had great premise and could have lived up to it better, but its still a very funny and interesting movie. I would recommend you check it out if you like Woody Allen movies. If you don’t enjoy his movies then you probably won’t enjoy in this one
